U of T Scarborough has partnered with Evergreen Canada since 2006 to renaturalize areas of campus, as well as undertake other environmental stewardship initiatives. In 2010, there were 11 events, which saw the planting of 630 trees & shrubs, as well as 1000 wildflowers. We welcome all students, staff and faculty to join in on our pursuit towards a greener campus. All Evergreen planting events are posted on the U of T Scarborough events page and the Intranet.
Every year, Evergreen, the Sustainability Office and UTSC students and staff plant an organic vegetable garden in the valley to promote local and sustainable food production. In 2012, we planted over 240 trees near the North Residence Buildings and planted another 250 trees and shrubs in the Valley.
