I welcome you to an interesting, challenging and thought-provoking journey towards understanding the lives of women who have escaped their abusive partners. Most likely, these women do not represent the entire spectrum of abused women.

However, it is my sincere belief that there is much to be gained from their experiences, insights, strength and resolve. It is also my belief that there is much we can learn from their human weaknesses, frailties, indecisiveness and even failures. I will make no attempt to reify these survivors just like I will not make an attempt to hide their genuine suffering.

After all, they are women, they are mothers, mates and friends, daughters and sisters like the rest of us. Yet they are women who have lost a portion of their lives to violence. They are also women who are on the winding road to reclaiming their lives.
