The Director oversees the department by facilitating a vision that continues the development of facilities, policies, and student success programs. Assessing student satisfaction in each area of the residence operation is a critical part of staying connected to the student experience, ensuring the best value for residence fees is received by students, and providing safe and affordable accommodation that promotes the growth of the student. In addition to more formal opportunities to interact with students such as student advisory groups, focus groups and residence satisfaction surveys, the Director welcomes the opportunity to sit down with students informally to discuss challenges and successes.
The Assistant Director, Residence Facilities oversees all facilities issues from cleaning, to maintaining safety, to major and minor maintenance. Students can file work orders in the event that repairs are needed in houses or apartments and the Residence Maintenance Technicians or contractors will respond. If students have any concerns or questions about residence facilities, email or drop by the Maintenance Office. During posted office hours students can pick up supplies such as light bulbs and garbage bags from the Maintenance Office.
The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the many details that go along with the daily operation of a residence facility. Students will interact with the Facilities Coordinator if they have repairs required or concerns regarding their residence space. This position ensures that work orders are responded to in a timely and efficient manner and also enters units (with notice) once per semester to conduct an inspection on how housemates are maintaining the cleanliness and good repair of the townhouses or suites. This position can also helps students with initiatives that relate to facilities such as supporting programs and policies that promote environmentally friendly living.
The Admissions & Communications, Administrative Assistant is responsible for facilitating the admissions process and for various communications within the department such as customer service and the web site. At the Customer Service Desk, students can make inquiries about policy and their student account, book appointments with the Residence Life Coordinator, receive assistance in filling out forms and have replacement key cards cut.
The Residence Life Coordinator oversees the development of the residence community by facilitating a wide variety of residence programs and by responding to student concerns, issues and incidents. The RLC is assisted by a large group of student leaders to carry out the various aspects of community development. The Residence Advisors, Academic Programmer and Residence Programmer report directly to the RLC. The Student Residence Council and the Green Wizards are advised and supported by the RLC.
The Manager, Finance & Initiatives oversees the budget in the office and is responsible for the day to day administration of revenue and expense accounts. Inventory and maintenance records and the creation of purchase requisitions for the department are additional responsibilities. The Manager, Finance & Initiatives compiles information for the department budget and assists the Director in preparation of yearly budget and long term plan. Other duties include: payroll administration and issuing invoices.
The Training & Programming Coordinator leads the development of residence programs. The T & PC supports students, the Student Residence Council, Green Wizards and the Residence Life Team by providing training, resources and advice on programming that support the academic goals of residents, promotes interaction, community development, learning and fun.
