Course Instructors

A number of Course Instructor positions are available in the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences for the Summer, Fall and Winter Sessions. These positions are open to students who have demonstrated a sound knowledge of the relevant subject matter and who have the ability to impart that knowledge to other students.

Hiring Criteria

Criteria for Course Instructors includes, but is not limited to, emphasis on teaching excellence, ability to teach course material, academic qualifications, suitability for the position and the University's need to attract excellent students to pursue graduate studies with the hiring Department or Graduate Centre or Institute shall be the criteria used in selection. Preference in hiring shall be given to graduate students enrolled in the School of Graduate Studies of the University of Toronto, or prospective graduate students who have made application to be enrolled in the School of Graduate Studies of the University of Toronto. Final availability of positions is contingent upon course enrolment numbers and budgetary considerations. Hiring will be governed by the rugulations outlined in the CUPE Local 3909 Unit 1 Collective Agreement.

Application Procedure

  • Download the appropriate application form. A hard copy is located on the sixth floor, outside room S647.
  • A separate application is required for each course.
  • The application deadline date is shown separately for each job description.
  • Applications should be submitted to Janet Blakely, Room S649.

The jobs are posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 Collective Agreement. It is understood that some announcements of vacancies are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolment.
