Former U of T Scarborough Commerce Student Gives Back Through the New van den Thillart Family Scholarship in Management
The Department of Management is pleased to offer a new in-course scholarship; the van den Thillart Family Scholarship in Management. The scholarship, generously created by former U of T Scarborough Commerce student, Leo van den Thillart is designed to support first-generation Canadians in the Co-op Management Program. As an immigrant himself, Thillart saw first hand some of the challenges immigrants face and hopes to ease the experience for others in the same situation. Thillart recognizes U of T Scarborough for providing him with the fundamentals necessary for a successful career, and hopes to give others the same opportunity by giving back. "The success of immigrants is the lifeblood of Canada,” he says.
Worth about $1,600, the scholarship will be awarded to an upper-year student in the Co-op Specialist Program in Management or Co-op Specialist Program in Economics and who was born outside of Canada but is currently a Canadian resident or citizen.
The Department of Management is tremendously thankful and appreciative of Thillart's effort.
