As stated in the Collective Agreement, the University recognizes the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3902, Unit 1 as the sole and exclusive collective bargaining agent for all persons employed as teaching assistants, teaching fellows, demonstrators, tutors, markers, instructors, teaching laboratory assistants, Chief Presiding Officers (as defined in Paragraph One of the Memorandum of Understanding dated February 8, 1988), invigilators, and part-time lecturers who are Post Doctoral Fellows, Undergraduate Students in the University of Toronto, and Graduate Students in the School of Graduate Studies of the University of Toronto.

Teaching Assistants (TAs)  

 

A full teaching assistant position corresponds to 140 hours. The Department of Management reserves the right to make partial appointments.  Final availability of positions is contingent upon final course determinations, enrolment, budgetary considerations and final determination of assignments flowing from the Collective Agreement.  The rate of pay effective January 1, 2008 corresponds with the current CUPE agreement as follows: Undergraduate $29.98, SGS1 $37.63, SGS11 $37.63 plus 4% vacation pay.

Teaching Assistant Application Form

Invigilators  

 

Assistant invigilator duties include distribution and collection of test and exam material, attendance and signature verification, escort students to and from the washrooms and to vigilantly monitor activities within the exam room.  The rate of pay effective January 1, 2008 corresponds with the current CUPE agreement at $24.79 per hour.  Applicants must be free of academic offenses.  Selected invigilators will be contacted by e-mail.

Summer Positions  

 

From time to time, the Department of Management offers rewarding summer positions to students at U of T Scarborough.  These position give students direct hands-on experiece in a real business environment, enabling them to develop both professional and interpersonal skills.

Work Study Positions  

 

The Ontario Work/Study Program is a financial need program that allows students to work part-time on-campus during the summer session. Work-study jobs are created by U. of T. faculty and staff. These jobs are academic or career related (not clerical in nature) and offer the student the opportunity to explore career options or gain experience in their field of study. The Summer Work Study program is available only at the Scarborough campus of the University of Toronto and is open only to U of T Scarborough students.
