Statistics Learning Session Helps BBA Students Improve Their Skills

On February 11, 2009, the Department of Management in collaboration with the Math & Statistics Learning Centre (formerly know as the Math & Statistics Help Centre) ran the first ever Statistics Learning Session for BBA students enrolled in Quantitative Methods in Economics I & II (ECMB11 and ECMB12).  Hosted by Dr. Vinh Quan, Management Lecturer and Dr. Zohreh Shahbazi, Math & Statistics Learning Centre Coordinator, the one-hour session reviewed specific statistics topics including; sampling, interval estimates and hypothesis testing.  In addition, Shahbazi highlighted the range of services offered by the Math & Statistics Learning Centre for UTSC students.   A list of services and more information may be found at the Math & Statistics Learning Centre’s website. [Read more].

U of T Scarborough BBA Students Attend the Prestigious Marketing Hall of Legends Awards Gala

On Tuesday, January 27, 2009, BBA students, Amanda Chin-Loy (4th year) and Vicky Zhao (3rd year) attended the annual Marketing Hall of Legends Awards Gala as personal guests of Bryan Pearson, President and CEO, LoyaltyOne AIR MILES Rewards Program.   The event which was attended by senior marketing executives from many of Canada’s leading companies honoured and celebrated the accomplishments of successful marketing leaders (i.e. Legends) while providing the opportunity to inspire marketing professionals of the future. DECA U of T brings home 12 Medals from the DECA U Provincial Conference

DECA U of T proved they were a force to be reckoned with after scoring 12 medals at this year’s DECA U Provincial Conference that took place on January 23rd – 25th 2009 at the Sheraton Centre, Downtown Toronto.   This year’s Conference saw 550 competitors from 14 different DECA U Chapters (14 Universities) compete in 16 different business categories. [Read more].

 

 

BBA Students Lead Discussion on the Current Macroeconomic Environment

On Wednesday, January 21, 2009, U of T Scarborough BBA students, Cici Liu, Juan Ma, Alexander McLeod, Alexandru Rascanu and Leslie Yang participated in an informal discussion with Mike Hornbrook, Economics Correspondent for CBC Radio News.  The discussion moderated by fourth year BBA student and MESA President, Derrick Fung specifically focused on the shift in governmental policy from a Friedman to a Keynesian economic model in addition to topics surrounding government deficit, market rationality and the current recession.  [Read more].

Accounting Students Show They Have What It Takes To Be A CA.

Graduates Earn Top Marks in National Accouting Exam

Two graduates of the Co-op Management Program have earned top scores in a gruelling national accounting exam set by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA).  Lindsay Chu scored the coveted gold medal in the CICA's Uniform Final Exams, achieving the highest mark of the 1,393 people in Ontario who wrote the test, while Thomas Gingras was among the top 15 in the province.  [Read more]
