Admission into Specialist Programs in Management

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply to the Non Co-op BBA Program after your first year if:

          1.  You have completed a minimum of 4FCEs but no more than 10 FCEs

      including MGTA01H3/(MGTA03H3), MGTA02H3/(MGTA04H3), MGEA02H3/(ECMA04H3), MGEA06H3/( ECMA06H3), MATA32H and MATA33H3 for Non-Coop B.B.A.

(MATA30H & MATA35H /A36H/A37H may also be used to satisfy the calculus requirement)

          2.  A competitive CGPA - the necessary CGPA for admission will be a function

of the number of available positions, the number of applicants, and the

CGPAs of these applicants. There is no way to predict this figure until after

the final grades are reported after the April examination period.

The minimum CGPA to guarantee admission to Non-Co-op B.B.A is calculated annually. However, we will guarantee admission to Non-Co-op program if a student achieves a CGPA of 3.3 or higher.

You are eligible to apply to the Co-op BBA Program after your first year if

You have completed a minimum of 3FCEs

Co-op students are required to take all of the courses listed above for non-co-op students; as well as MGTB05H and MGTB06H in first year.

For more information, consult CO-OPERATIVE PROGRAM IN MANAGEMENT in the Course Calendar.

Applications to enter Co-op B.B.A (both from pre-program students and from the B.B.A. students not in Co-op) will only be considered at the end of first year. For the 2011-2012 students, this will be in the Winter 2012 Subject POSt selection cycle only.

Applying

To apply to the Non Co-op BBA Program:

          •  Apply ONLY to ONE specific BBA Subject POSt on ROSI on the appropriate

application dates.  Read Subject POSt requirements in the Calendar before

applying. Subject POSt request instructions are included within the

Registration Guide and posted at the Registrar's Office website under

              Courses and Subject POSt.

Please Note: ROSI will let you apply to more than one Subject POSt but we will only enroll students in ONE program. SO CHOOSE ONE B.B.A PROGRAM ONLY. If you apply to more than one Subject POSt on ROSI, you may lose your chance of being admitted to the program that you most desire and may become enrolled in a program of your second choice.

To apply to the Co-op BBA Program:

If you are a registered student at U of T Scarborough and are interested in applying to the Co-op Management Program, the admission cycle takes place in April of each year.

To apply to Co-op Management you must request the Co-op Management Subject POSt (SCSPE24314) on ROSI during the specific application date. In addition, you must submit a copy of your résumé and cover letter to the Co-op Office (IC150).

Your cover letter and résumé will be evaluated for the following items:

        •  Awards & achievement

        •  Grammar and written communication

        •  Recent extracurricular, volunteer and work experience

        •  Demonstrated leadership and interest in business and the co-op experience.

The Academic Advising & Career Centre staff (AC213) are available to assist you with your résumé and cover letter. For more details on admissions procedures and specific dates, please visit the registrar's office admission instructions.

The Co-op Students' Association hosts a "How to Get into Management Co-op" seminar twice a year. Please visit their website for details and a downloadable presentation.

Admission

For admission to both the Non Co-op BBA and Co-op BBA Program:

        •  Check for acceptance on ROSI in early June.

        •  If granted entry into the program, ACCEPT the offer on ROSI within the posted

deadline; you are now eligible to enroll in management courses in the next

            registration period.

        •  If you are not granted entry into the BBA program, please visit the Academic

Advising & Career Centre to choose a different program. You may choose to

apply again during the following summer session.

Most Pre-Program students will be considered for admission to the various

BBA programs at the end of the winter session of their first year. A second round of admissions takes place at the end of the following summ session.

For admission during Second Year to Non-Co-op B.B.A ONLY:

A limited number of places in the Non Co-op BBA will be available to students beyond the two application periods described above. Students may apply, during the Subject POSt request periods until they have completed up to 10 full credits; admission will be on the basis of all grades received. Students who have completed more than 10 full credits will not be considered for admission to the Program. However, because the number of students accepted in this category is very limited, students who are denied admission after first year (in the periods at the end of the winter session and the end of the summer session in first year) are strongly advised to visit the Academic Advising & Career Centre to explore alternative program options.
