Statistics Learning Session Helps BBA Students Improve Their Skills

On February 11, 2009, the Department of Management in collaboration with the Math & Statistics Learning Centre (formerly know as the Math & Statistics Help Centre) ran the first ever Statistics Learning Session for BBA students enrolled in Quantitative Methods in Economics I & II (ECMB11 and ECMB12). Hosted by Dr. Vinh Quan, Management Lecturer and Dr. Zohreh Shahbazi, Math & Statistics Learning Centre Coordinator, the one-hour session reviewed specific statistics topics including; sampling, interval estimates and hypothesis testing. In addition, Shahbazi highlighted the range of services offered by the Math & Statistics Learning Centre for UTSC students. A list of services and more information may be found at the Math & Statistics Learning Centre’s website.
Shehna Javeed, Program Advisor in the Department of Management initiated and coordinated the session after understanding from numerous BBA students that statistics was a challenge. Consequently, interest for the session was apparent with space filling up quickly, with a total of 35 students registered.
The Department is especially appreciative of the great effort and collaboration shown by Quan and Shahbazi. Their presentation provided informative handouts and helpful tips for students. Quan and Shahbazi deserve recognition for their hard work and dedication to the success of students. They are undoubtedly tremendous assets to the UTSC community.
The Department of Management is committed to enhancing the learning experience of students and hopes to offer this session as well as others throughout the year. Sign-up is now open to all BBA students for the Summer Course Information Session. Visit the Intranet to sign-up and for more information.
