DECA Victory - 22 Medals at Provincials
By: Kelly Wong and Samantha Chiu, DECAssociates, DECA UTSC
Developing Excellence Celebrating Achievement — these are the very words that described the sweeping victory captured by U of T Scarborough students competing in the DECA U Provincial Competition 2010. It was no surprise that 22 medals were seized through fierce competition with 12 other university chapters across Ontario. The intensive Provincial Competition brings more than 750 bright minds from across Ontario to compete in business case simulations, network with industry professionals, and to participate in many entertaining social events while enjoying the Toronto night life.
Delegates arrived at the renowned 5-star Sheraton hotel, located in the heart of downtown Toronto to begin their 3 day- 2 night stay. First up was the written component to the Business Simulation, with categories ranging from Financial Services to Fashion and Accessories. This component created a wide variety of opportunities for delegates to polish their skills as well as work with their interests. In addition, the case study component allowed delegates to choose from presenting in PowerPoint or participating in groups in a Quiz Bowl, as well as required them to develop essential business plans.
Each delegate worked to their fullest potential, bringing home victory to U of TScarborough. Our proud list of U of T Scarborough medalists:
