Alison (Jing) Xu, BA, PhD - Assistant Professor
Research Interests:
In her research, Xu examines the processes by which consumers form judgments and make decisions. "I'm a consumer myself, and I'm very interested in understanding the secrets behind consumer behavior – mine and other's." In 2009, she received an award for research excellence from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), and in 2008, she won an award for best competitive paper from Association for Consumer Research, as well as being named to a fellowship at UIUC for 2008-2009. In terms of her research aims, Xu says, "I've always had one goal – doing interesting and influential research. I enjoy the excitement that I experience when my research findings surprise me."
Teaching Interests:
In her teaching, she aims to inspire students "to acquire knowledge, and more importantly, to enhance their ability to creatively apply the knowledge they've learned to solve the different problems that marketers may face in the real business world."
Professional Experience:
Her articles have been published in various journals, including the Journal of Consumer Research, Psychological Science, Management Science and the Journal of Consumer Psychology.
