Permafrost Research Group
The University of Toronto Scarborough Campus (UTSC) Permafrost Research Group (PRG) is tasked to assess climate change trends and impacts to Canada's North. Since 2007, the permafrost state has been monitored at the southernmost extent in Canada’s subarctic region, the Hudson Bay Lowlands. This area is anticipated to be the frontline for permafrost change driven by climate. As of 2009, the UTSC-PRG research profile was expanded from the subarctic to include the low and high arctic regions, ending at Canada’s northernmost inhabited place in the world, Alert, Nunavut.
