H-Wing MarketPlace receives Eat Smart award

Food and Beverage Services at the University of Toronto Scarborough is pleased to join in the Ontario's East Smart programme.
Food service operations in the province may qualify for an Eat Smart award acknowledging the food service provider's menu choices that meet standards of nutrition and record of safe food handling practices. The H-Wing Marketplace, operted by Aramark Campus Services received an Eat Smart award on October 22, 209. Presented by Toronto Public Health, one of the municipal public health agencies administering the provincial programme.

The site also provides information on food service operation in the province that participate in the programme.
U of T Scarborough's retail food service locations are operated under contract to Aramark Campus Services.
The University obtains contracted services through a Request For Proposal process following prescribed
methods as set out by the University's Financial Services department.
Food and Beverage Services works in conjunction with Aramark to:
- establish hours of operation for the retail outlets,
- approve price changes for non-franchise operations, and
- arrange support services from various U of T Scarborough departments.
Hours of operation are in effect for the fall and winter academic terms.
Hours are adjusted for Reading Week, study weeks and exams.

The MarketPlace is the primary food service outlet on campus with seating areas on two levels:
- the lower level adjacent to the service stations is a bright informal setting for all members of the campus to meet for meals
- the upper level dining room is a larger quieter room that may be booked for events outside of the normal hours of operation.

In 2005, the MarketPlace was renovated extensively moving away from the traditional cafeteria style service lines to individual food
stations each with its own particular menu and specialty.
Meal Plan cards are accepted at this facility and a debit card payment option is also available.
In addition to the existing food choices, the MarketPlace offers two daily soup choices, snacks and dessert, Bento Nouveau sushi made on site daily, cold drinks and a variety of teas and coffees which include two Fair Trade selections-100%
Columbian and Peruvian Organic.
