Food and Beverage Services at the University of Toronto Scarborough is pleased to announce that it a partner with the St. George campus Ancillary Services in offering the U of T standard Halal certification at a variety of outlets on campus.
Developed by St. George Food Services and the Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity Office in consultation with student groups and external agencies, the U of T Halal follows the standards established by the Government of Canada’s Agriculture and Agri-food Department and the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA), a non-profit technical Islamic organization that certified and supervises the production of Halal products. In addition, the University will only serve Halal food from ISNA or IFANCA suppliers.
The University of Toronto Halal Standard programme is identified with a distinctive logo that is displayed in the participating outlets on campus. A sample of the logo, background information and resource links to relevant sites can be found at

Currently, the participating outlets at the University of Toronto Scarborough are:
R-Wing: Sultan’s Middle Eastern Cuisine
H-Wing: Miso, Bene Pasta, Montague’s Deli.
In addition to the U of T Halal logo, outlets display copies of the certificates for the suppliers providing products for the Halal certified outlet menus.
It is expected that in the near future the University of Toronto Mississauga will join U of T Scarborough and U of T St. George Food Services in offering the U of T Halal standard across the three campuses.
