Award Opportunities

The Margeson Scholarship in English:
Awarded to a student who has completed the second year of the Major or Specialist Program in English.

The Oxford University Press English Essay Prize:
Awarded to the best essay written in an English course in the academic year. (Essays are usually nominated by instructors; students may nominate themselves.)

The Karlheinz Theil Award:
Awarded to the student who, in the year she or he completes the ENGB03, ENGB04, and ENGB05 sequence, has the highest average in those four courses that year.

McClelland & Stewart Essay Prize in Canadian Studies:
Awarded for the best essay on Canadian literature. (Essays are usually nominated by instructors; students may nominate themselves.)

The Scarborough Creative Writing Prize for Poetry:
Awarded annually for the best submission of original poetry by a Scarborough student.

The Scarborough Creative Writing Prize for Short Fiction:
Awarded annually for the best submission of original short fiction (under 3,000 words) by a Scarborough student.
