Marks

Your marks are no longer made available on this page.  New rules have moved them onto the intranet, which you can access through www.utsc.utoronto.ca.

_________________________________________________________

Your grade in ECMA04H is determined on the basis of two tests during the term (the first worth 25% and the second worth 25%) and a final exam in the December exam period worth 50%. If you miss one of the two tests during the term, your marks will be adjusted to put all the weight on the tests and exam that you do write.   You do not need to present a doctor's note or excuse, and there are no make-up tests for students who miss tests.   On the other hand, if you miss the final exam in December, you will have to request permission on ROSI to write a makeup exam, which will be written at the end of the following term. If you write a deferred final exam, there is no guarantee that it will take the same form or be constructed by the same professor who taught you this course.  It will cover (broadly) the same material.  In general, students do much better writing in December than by deferring the inevitable final exam.

In ECMA04, we want to encourage you to write the term tests, so we will reward you for doing so.   If you write a term test and your mark on the final is higher than your term test mark, we will substitute the mark on the final exam for that (lower) term test mark. This will apply to both term tests; if you do better on the final, we will replace your mark on one or both term tests.  This means that there is no penalty for trying a term test, even if you think you are not fully ready.   Our intention is not to delay the point at which you begin to take this course seriously.   You should do that now.   Our intention is, however, to provide a small safety net for students in first year as they begin to learn how to do this challenging subject.

•  The final exam for all students will be a three-hour exam

The final exam will include "objective" questions, and questions designed to test your knowledge about the graphs studied in the course.   The exact design of each test will be discussed in class prior to its taking place.
