The new Department of Biological Sciences (July 1, 2007), has arisen from a division of the former department of Life Sciences. The Department of Biological Sciences brings together biologists who study fundamental research questions in the areas of molecular biology, cell biology, neuroscience, plant biology and ecology and evolution.
For 2007-8, the courses and programs offered by the previous department of Life Sciences will continue to be available. All students currently pursuing these programs, and those starting in these programs, will be able to complete them. As new programs are developed, students may be able to transfer into them, depending on the courses they have taken. The Specialist and Co-operative programs in Neuroscience will continue to include Biology and Psychology courses but will be administered through the Department of Psychology.
