Join the UofT Scarborough Co-op Community
If you aren't ready to hire, find out more about our program by participating in our program activities- it is a great way to meet our students and find out more about what our program can offer you. Our activities run throughout the year and include:
Panel Presentations
Our Panel Presentations provide program employers, industry experts, and alumni an opportunity to share their expertise and insights with our current junior students. Panelists speak to approximately 100-150 co-op students to provide information and resources that will prepare them for their co-op work term search and their career pursuits. Previous Topics Include: Career Paths, Etiquette, Accessing the Hidden Job Market, and Industry Overview and Market Trends.

careerSpark is a bi-annual event organized by the Arts & Science Co-op Office at the University of Toronto Scarborough. Held in November and March, each event brings together 20-30 Industry Experts and 80-100 junior undergraduate students for information sharing and networking.
Industry Experts are individuals who are working in the industry who
can fuel undergraduate student’s interests in various areas.
Many of our students are in first year or second year and have
not completed a co-op work term yet. Some have a clear idea of
what they
are interested in doing for a career, while others are unsure
of what is available to them based on their program of study
and their areas
of interest. This evening is a chance for our students to learn
more of what is available to them in various industries and professions.
The evening is broken into three parts: a dinner and briefing
session, fast paced one-on-one meetings which are pre-arranged
by the co-op office where Experts meet
with about 10-12 students over an hour with each meeting lasts
for 5 minutes, and a networking reception. During these sessions
students will be
practicing the
art of networking as well as looking to find out information
about career paths, careers in certain organizations, or seek
advice on how
to achieve their goals. All participants receive a schedule of
appointments when they arrive at the event. In the past, experts
have found this
to be a great way to connect with volunteers, research assistants
and prospective employees.
Mock Interviews
Conduct mock interview sessions with our 2nd and 3rd year students who are preparing to go out on a work term. Help them prepare and refine their interview techniques as well as get a sneak peak at our upcoming group of candidates.
The Arts & Science Co-op Office, usually holds these sessions
in late January and are pleased to offer employers the option
of conducting the mock interviews on campus, at your office
location or on the phone.
Company Information Session
Many organizations kick off their recruiting by holding company information sessions on campus specifically for our co-op students. We will provide the location and promote your session to our students.
Industry Tours
We will bring our students to you for onsite company visits, tours or information session. It is a great way for to promote your organization and the opportunities it offers to UofT Arts & Science Co-op students.
Trying on Hats
This program is
open to current UofT Scarborough Arts & Science Co-op employers only
and runs twice a year, typically in February and August. It pairs a first
year student with a senior co-op student currently on a work term and
their Work Term Supervisor for 1 – 5 days, allowing students to
sample a career or organization they are interested in.
