The U of T Scarborough Alumni Association is looking for Volunteers!

Volunteers form the backbone of the U of T Scarborough Alumni Association and provide valued assistance through their actions, moral support, enthusiasm, and feedback on issues that the Association or the University may face.

At this year's AGM on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, the UTSCAA will be hosting it's Annual General Meeting at which time all of the following positions will be up for election (unless otherwise noted):

Chair (1)

  • Presides over and shall set the agenda for all meetings of UTSCAA
  • Responsible for ensuring all action items resulting from meetings are followed up on by the appropriate members of the Board
  • Serves as the official spokesperson for the UTSCAA
  • Ensures that the intent and provisions of the constitution and any subsequent by-laws or policies are enforced
  • Responsible to the membership of the UTSCAA and the Board
  • Ex-officio member of all committees and constituent groups of the UTSCAA
  • Prepares a report for presentation at the Annual General Meeting, detailing the activities for the UTSCAA since the last membership meeting
  • Motivates all executive members to achieve a collaborative and shared participation in all UTSCAA initiatives and meetings
  • Ensures all governance positions related to the UTSCAA are filled accordingly including College of Electors, Council of UTSC and its committees
  • Represents the UTSCAA at all UTSC and University of Toronto events as appropriate
  • Mobilizes the alumni membership through a variety of partnership strategies (reunions, events, surveys, etc.)
  • Attendance at Board meetings as well as sponsored events 

Past Chair

  • Act as an advisor to the current CHAIR and the Board
  • Assists with strategic planning of the UTSC Alumni Association
  • Serve on Elections Committee as appropriate

Vice Chair (1)

  • Represents the UTSCAA at all events
  • Acts on behalf of the Chair if he/she cannot attend and or is unable to continue their duties
  • Mobilizes the alumni membership through a variety of partnership strategies (reunions, events, surveys, etc.)
  • Liaises between UTSCAA and Development and Alumni Relations Office with respect to all financial matters
  • Accounts for all monies accrued to the UTSCAA and in consultation with the members of the Board, authorizes for payment, all expenses and sponsorships incurred by the UTSCAA
  • Provides regular updates on the financial position of the UTSCAA at regular meetings and at the AGM
  • Attendance at Board meetings as well as sponsored events

Secretary (1)

  • Responsible for organizing all meetings and internal communications including minutes of meetings and action items to the Board
  • As required, work with the Alumni Relations and Director of Communications regarding content for any alumni communications
  • Mobilizes the alumni membership through a variety of partnership strategies (reunions, events, surveys, etc.)
  • Attendance at meetings as well as sponsored events 

Director of Communications (1)

  • Develop promotional materials for UTSCAA events and recruitment under the guidance of the Board
  • Work with the Board and Alumni Relations to develop key messages for the membership
  • Work with Alumni Relations Office to maintain ongoing communication with membership
  • Mobilizes the alumni membership through a variety of partnership strategies (reunions, events, surveys, etc.)
  • Attendance at executive meeting as well as events that the alumni has sponsored
  • Maintain website as needed

Directors (7)

  • Join at least one ad-hoc committee as appropriate
  • Mobilizes the alumni membership through a variety of partnership strategies (reunions, events, surveys, etc.)
  • Attendance at meetings as well as sponsored events
