Generating Ideas-Creating an Outline: software supports to the writing process

The first step in your essay or project is often to come up with the greatest number of ideas and areas to examine in your topic. Even in the physical sciences, it is important to generate a wide list of data to examine, in preparation for writing reports. The next step is to take these ideas and develop them into an outline as part of the planning phase of your essay, paper or project. This workshop will demonstrate how to use Inspiration and Kurzweil 3000 software for both generating ideas and outlining your work. Creating Study Notes as you Read- Effective reading with software supports

Extract information as you read textbooks, PowerPoints and PDFs, using Office or Kurzweil 3000 software. Create flashcards or other study tools while reading to maximize your learning as you read, and to use for tests and exams. This workshop will demonstrate how to create electronic notes out of your readings, and organize them for maximum effectiveness when reviewing. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome/Repetitive Strain Injury: How to Prevent, Treat, and Accommodate It

Repetitive strain injury can result from long hours at the computer, or a range of other tasks. This workshop will identify ways of preventing this injury, treatment options once you have it and how software and hardware options can help you accommodate it. Wednesday, June 5, 12:00pm-1:00pm, SW302

Maximizing your effectiveness with Dragon Naturally Speaking

Dragon Naturally speaking can be an excellent tool for casual use (brainstorming ideas, writing e-mails,) or for formulating formal essays. This workshop will do straight ways to improve the accuracy of your voice recognition, teach Dragon your academic vocabulary, and how to backup or transfer voice files. Having problems?
